Practice

The eras since have followed the same shape:

1981 — Hand-typed

2012 — Laravel

The discipline became structure. A framework that respected the craft made it possible to think in patterns rather than in syntax. Decisions still got made by hand. The framework just kept them honest.

2025 — AI-collaborative

The discipline became restraint. AI does what it does fast; the work is in deciding what to keep. The keyboard still asks the same questions it always asked. The answers just have a louder partner now.
